Curb Appeal or No Deal

Vegas homeOne of the most important things to remember when you are preparing your house for sale is to really focus on making the front of your home appealing and inviting. Don't give the potential buyer anything negative or unappealing to look at while their real estate agent is getting the key from the lock box.

You certainly don't want a buyer to have bad feelings about your property before they even enter the home. Remember that first impressions are the strongest and you only have one chance to make a first impression.

Here are some suggestions to help you maximize your curb appeal.

  • Make sure that your front door is spotless (freshly painted if necessary)

  • Make the front door entry inviting

  • Get rid of any cobwebs

  • Think about placing a new doormat in the entry

  • Include some color in the entry (a nice plant or decorative item)

  • Make sure the doorbell is working

  • Place a wreath on the door during the holiday season

  • Your garage doors should be clean

  • Any windows at the front of the home should sparkle

  • Your front yard should be attractive

  • No dead plants

  • Make sure there are no visible weeds

  • The grass should be mowed and groomed

  • Pick up any debris and waste

  • Hose down or sweep the sidewalk and walkway on a regular basis

Obviously you have to prepare your entire house for sale, just put a little extra attention to the front of your home and give any potential buyers a good first impression.

The difference between a great first impression or a bad one can be the difference between an offer on your home or another few months on the market.
